You can easily create short video clips (snippets) using our built-in snippet tool. Follow the steps below to get started:
Manual snippets give you full control over what sections of your video are clipped and how they're labeled.
During the workflow creation process, head to "Advanced Settings" and switch the workflow type from "Full Video" to "Short Clips."
Note: If this step is skipped, the snippet tool will not appear.
On your workflows page, use the "View Workflow" button to enter the workflow.
Click the "Create Clips" button to the right of a video.
The snippet interface will appear. The Video player will be displayed in the Left panel, and the Snippets list will be displayed in the Right panel.
A default snippet is automatically created from 0 to 55 seconds (this length can then be adjusted within the workflow settings under "Default snippet duration"). You can:
Change the start and end time manually.
Adjust the duration by entering a specific number of seconds.
Give the snippet a meaningful title that describes its content.
While you're working within the Clip Details pop-up:
Use the "Play Clip" button to preview the clip from start to end.
Press Spacebar to play/pause the video.
Press X to instantly generate a snippet at the current playhead position.
Once you're done, close the pop-up window with the "X" in the upper right corner to save your changes.
Note: If you click outside the pop-up to exit it, nothing will be saved.
You can adjust the default snippet duration in your workflow settings (e.g., change from 55 seconds to 2 minutes).
Use this to ensure compatibility with your preferred platforms (e.g. Facebook Reels, Snapchat Spotlight).
At any time, you can:
Edit or delete individual snippets using the 3-dot button to the right of each one.
Click "Update Clips" to view all clips in one window - ideal for team review before publishing.
Repurpose supports two automatic methods for creating snippets without manual editing.
This method automatically creates a single snippet from the start of each video, using the default snippet duration set in your workflow settings.
Go to your Workflow Settings.
Locate the "Auto Snippet Creation" option and check the box.
Set your preferred duration in the "Default Snippet Duration" field (e.g., 60 seconds)
Set your preferred starting point in the "Auto snippet start time" field, by default it will be 0:00.
Note: This method creates ONE snippet per video, starting at the "Auto Snippet Start Time" and lasting for the duration set in the "Default Snippet Duration" field.
If your source video description includes timestamps, Repurpose can automatically detect them and create multiple snippets based on those time markers.
Add clearly formatted timestamps to your video description (e.g., 00:00 Intro, 02:15 Main Topic, 05:30 Conclusion).
Repurpose will use these markers to split the video into separate snippets.
Note: This option is enabled by default. If your video includes timestamps but you prefer not to generate clips from them, you can turn it off by selecting the "Hide auto-detected snippets" option in the workflow settings

Automatic Snippet Creation
Repurpose supports two automatic methods for creating snippets without manual editing.
Option 1: "Auto Create Snippets"
This method automatically creates a single snippet from the start of each video, using the default snippet duration set in your workflow settings.
How to Enable:
Go to your Workflow Settings.
Locate the "Auto Snippet Creation" option and check the box.
Set your preferred duration in the "Default Snippet Duration" field (e.g., 60 seconds)
Set your preferred starting point in the "Auto snippet start time" field, by default it will be 0:00.
Note: This method creates ONE snippet per video, starting at the "Auto Snippet Start Time" and lasting for the duration set in the "Default Snippet Duration" field.
Option 2: "Auto-Detected Snippets" using Timestamps
If your source video description includes timestamps, Repurpose can automatically detect them and create multiple snippets based on those time markers.
How It Works:
Add clearly formatted timestamps to your video description (e.g., 00:00 Intro, 02:15 Main Topic, 05:30 Conclusion).
Repurpose will use these markers to split the video into separate snippets.
Note: This option is enabled by default. If your video includes timestamps but you prefer not to generate clips from them, you can turn it off by selecting the "Hide auto-detected snippets" option in the workflow settings
