Repurpose Integrates Directly with Instagram. Here’s an updated overview of the most frequently asked questions and troubleshooting tips to help you get the most out of the integration.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I publish directly to Instagram?
Yes. Instagram can be used as a Destination.

Can I use Instagram as a Source?
Yes. Instagram can be used as a Source.

Is there a limit to the length of videos I can post to Instagram via Repurpose?
Yes. Instagram supports Reels up to 15 minutes long and Stories up to 60 seconds (these limits are set by Meta).

Are reposted, remixed, or co-authored posts supported?
Only content where you are the original creator is supported. Remixes and collaborative posts where you are not the original creator are not supported.

Can I use the Reconnect option to change the account linked to a connection?
No. The Reconnect option cannot be used to switch a connection to a different account. It can only renew access to the same account.

Does Repurpose remove the Instagram watermark?
Yes. Repurpose pulls the original version of the video before Instagram adds the watermark.

If your video already had a watermark before being uploaded to Instagram, it can’t be removed, as it’s part of the original file. For best results, upload or create your videos without any watermark applied in advance.

Switching to a Different Instagram Account

If you want to connect a different Instagram account, you'll need to add a new connection linked to the Instagram account you want to use. It's not possible to reconnect an existing connection to a different account.

By default, Repurpose will connect to whichever Instagram account is currently logged into the Instagram website. Before adding the new connection, make sure you're signed in to the Instagram account you want to connect. If the wrong Instagram account is logged in, you can click the three dots ( ... ) on the top right of the Instagram authentication page and choose "Switch account".

If you've reached your connection limit, first go to the Connections page and remove the unwanted Instagram connection using the three-dot menu next to it. This will free up space so you can add the new connection.

How to Remove or Edit Instagram Permissions from Your Account

To revoke access or edit permissions for your Instagram account:

  1. Make sure you're logged into the desired Instagram account on the website, then head to the following link: https://www.instagram.com/accounts/manage_access/
  2. Find the Repurpose integration and remove it.

To reauthorize and choose permissions again:

  1. Go to the Connections tab in Repurpose.
  2. Click the three-dot menu next to your Instagram connection and select Reconnect.
  3. On the authorization screen, select the access you’d like to grant (we recommend allowing all), then click Allow.

Error: 400 Session Invalid

If you receive a "400 Session Invalid" error when trying to connect your Instagram account, this typically indicates an issue with your account settings on Meta’s side, not a Repurpose issue and affects every social media tool that connects to Instagram, and we're waiting on Meta to fix it.

Meta checks a privacy setting in your Accounts Center before it will issue the secure token that lets Repurpose connect. When that setting is in a bad state, Meta blocks the connection and shows the error above — even if the setting looks correct on your end.

The good news: resetting the setting clears the bad state for most people.

Important: Avoid Using a VPN - They can interfere with the connection process. Make sure you’re not using one while trying to connect.

Step 1: Reset the "Activity from other businesses" setting

Do this in a private/incognito window. That avoids conflicts with other Instagram accounts you may be logged into.

  1. Open a private/incognito window in your browser.
  2. Go to instagram.com and log in to the Instagram account you want to connect.
  3. In the same window, open the Activity from other businesses page:

  1. If the setting is ON (Allow) , toggle it OFF (Don't allow) and click Save.
  2. Wait a few seconds, then toggle it back ON (Allow) and click Save again.
  3. Wait a few minutes, then go back to Repurpose and try connecting again.

Note: Meta can take a while to apply the change. If it still fails, wait 1–2 hours and try once more before moving on to Step 2.

Step 2: Remove extra Instagram accounts from your Accounts Center

If Step 1 didn't work, having more than one Instagram account in the same Accounts Center can block the connection.

  1. Still in your private/incognito window, open the Account Centre -> Manage Accounts page
  2. Check whether more than one Instagram account is listed.

  1. If you see a second account, click Manage next to it and choose Move out of this Accounts Center. Leave the account you're currently trying to connect exactly where it is.
Don't want to remove the second Instagram account? You can leave it in place, but you'll need to reset the setting on everyInstagram account in your Accounts Center — not just the one you're connecting. Log out, log back in as the second account, and repeat Step 1 for it. Then try connecting again to see if that helps.

  1. Go back to Repurpose and try connecting / reconnecting again.

Step 3: Check Account Health

If Step 1 and 2 don't work, please check if your Instagram account has any restrictions that may prevent linking: Check Instagram Account Status here (there shouldn’t be any restrictions at all).

Trial Reels That Are Published After the Trial Period

Important: Some Trial Reels may continue to be identified as Trial Reels even after they're published to your account, depending on how they're shared on Instagram.

If a Trial Reel is published after the trial period without being added to the main grid, it will continue to be identified as a Trial Reel (this is a limitation on META's side).

As a result:

  • If your workflow has Exclude Trial Reels enabled, these videos will continue to be excluded and won't be imported into the workflow.
  • If the Reel is added to the main grid after the trial period ends, it will be treated as a regular Reel. In that case, it will no longer be excluded by the Exclude Trial Reels option.

This behavior is determined entirely by the metadata provided by Meta's API and cannot be overridden by Repurpose.
