How to Prevent Specific Videos from Being Auto Published
Overview
When using Auto Publish, there isn't currently a dedicated option to exclude individual videos or remove them from a workflow. However, depending on your workflow configuration, there are several ways to prevent specific videos from being published automatically.
The available options vary based on whether you're using Auto Publish As Soon As Possible or Auto Publish Based on a Schedule. In some cases, you can prevent videos from being published by using hashtag or keyword filters, adjusting the publishing scope, or removing videos that have already been auto-scheduled.
This article explains the available methods for each auto-publishing mode and when to use them.
Auto Publish As Soon As Possible
This publishing mode only applies to future content. Existing videos will not be automatically published. If you want to prevent a specific future video from being auto-published, you can use the Hashtag Filter or Keyword Filter in your workflow settings.
These filters allow you to:
- Exclude videos containing specific hashtags or keywords.
- Only publish videos containing specific hashtags or keywords.
To use this approach, make sure the desired hashtag or keyword is included in the video's caption when uploading it to the source platform.
Auto Publish Based on a Schedule
This publishing mode automatically schedules videos that fall within the workflow's publishing scope. Videos selected for publishing will display an Auto Scheduled status, indicating they have been added to the publishing queue and will be published according to the schedule configured in the workflow, with one video assigned to each available publishing slot.
Option 1: Cancel Auto-Scheduled Videos
If a video has an Auto Scheduled status, you can click Cancel to remove it from the publishing queue and prevent it from being published automatically.
Option 2: Adjust the Publishing Scope
You can modify the workflow's publishing scope to exclude unwanted videos from being considered for auto-publishing. Available scope options include:
- All content before a specific date
- All content after a specific date
- Content within a specific date range
Any videos outside the selected scope will not be automatically scheduled or published.
Option 3: Use Hashtag or Keyword Filters
You can also use the Hashtag Filter or Keyword Filter in the workflow settings to further control which videos are eligible for auto-publishing. These filters allow you to:
- Exclude videos containing specific hashtags or keywords.
- Only publish videos containing specific hashtags or keywords.
This can be useful when you want to prevent certain categories of content from being published automatically without changing the workflow's publishing scope.
Alternative: Use Manual Mode
If you need complete control over which videos are published, you can disable Auto Publish and operate the workflow manually instead. In manual mode, videos will only be published when you explicitly schedule them using the Schedule button next to each video within the workflow.
