How to Connect Your Instagram Account in Repurpose

Don't have a Repurpose.io account? Sign up for free here!

You can connect your Instagram account in two ways:

  • Option 1: While creating a workflow (recommended if you're setting up a workflow now)
  • Option 2: From the Connections page (recommended if you're prepping accounts ahead of time)

⚠️ Your Instagram account must be set to Professional—either Creator or Business. Both work with Reels, but if you want to use Stories, your account must be set to Business.

Option 1: Connect Instagram During Workflow Creation

  1. Go to the Workflows page and click Create workflow (left side dashboard).
  2. Choose your workflow type (Repurpose New Content or Existing Content).
  3. Select Instagram as the source (left-menu) or destination (right-menu).
  4. If this is your first Instagram connection, you’ll be redirected to the login page. If you already have one, a pop-up will appear. Click “Add new Instagram account” to connect another.
  5. Enter your login credentials.
  6. If you see a “Save your login info” option on the Instagram page, please make sure to click Save, otherwise the connection will not work.
  7. Next, on the authorization screen, make sure the correct account is being authorized. If not, click the three-dot button and use the Switch account option to log into the correct one.
  8. Click Allow to finish connecting your account.

Option 2: Connect Instagram from the Connections Page

  1. Go to the Connections page from the left side menu.
  2. Click Add a New Connection (top right).
  3. Select Instagram from the list.
  4. A pop-up will appear where you can optionally edit the connection name and connect through Facebook in the advanced settings (not recommended - see more in the troubleshooting article).
  5. If this is your first Instagram connection, you’ll be redirected to the login page. If you already have one, a pop-up will appear. Click “Add new Instagram account” to connect another.
  6. Enter your login credentials.
  7. If you see a “Save your login info” option on the Instagram page, please make sure to click Save, otherwise the connection will not work.
  8. On the authorization screen, make sure the correct account being authorized. If not, click the three-dot button and use the Switch account option to log into the correct one.
  9. Click Allow to finish connecting your account.

Connect using Facebook (if you don’t have IG credentials)

If your Instagram account was created using Facebook and you don’t have separate Instagram login credentials:

  1. Go to Connections → Add a New Connection → Instagram
  2. Open Advanced settings in the pop-up
  3. Select Connect via Facebook
  4. Log in with your Facebook account and authorize access

For this method, the IG account needs to be linked to a FB business page where you are an admin, as access is granted through it. Whenever possible, it’s best to connect directly through Instagram.

Tips

If you have multiple Instagram accounts under the same email, use the username instead of the email when logging in. Using the email may default to the primary account.
