What happens if I repost a video with copyrighted music to YouTube Shorts?

Any Short under 60 seconds in duration - your YouTube account, reach, and monetization on that Short is not affected

Any Short over 60 seconds in duration - if your Short has an active Content ID claim of any type, including manual claims, will be blocked globally on YouTube. The video will not be playable or recommended on YouTube, and will not be eligible for monetization. There are no penalties to your channel. You may remove the claimed content from your videos. If you believe the claim was made in error, you can file a dispute. Once the claim is resolved, your Short will be viewable and eligible for monetization. More details can be found here.


1) If you re-post a video with copyrighted music to YouTube shorts YouTube will give you a notice inside your YouTube account next to that video. The notice simply mentions that the music in that video is copyrighted.




2) The original creator of that audio is automatically credited on your video.




3) As long as the video is a YouTube Shorts, there are no copyright strikes against your channel as per their Shorts Policy




4) If you are not happy with the original audio creator being credited or believe there is a mistake, you do have the option to replace that song, remove it, or even dispute the claim from inside your YouTube account.
