Burning Captions Into Videos (3 Ways)

There are 3 ways to do this:
- Method 1 - Use automatically generated or user-uploaded captions from Facebook and YouTube.
- Method 2 - Upload your own captions in .SRT format to Repurpose for each video.
- Method 3 - Include an .SRT file in the same folder as your video (with same name) when repurposing from Dropbox or Google Drive.
Method 1 - Working with YouTube and Facebook Captions
Using YouTube's autogenerated captions:
YouTube automatically generates captions for each video you upload. It may take a few hours for these captions to appear on YouTube. The accuracy of these transcripts are not perfect, but may be good enough for creating captioned videos.
Uploading Your Own Captions to YouTube:
- Visit the YouTube Studio
- Click Content and click the pencil icon to edit a particular video
- Click Subtitles, Add Language, and under Subtitles on the right click "Add"
- Click Upload File and choose your captions file with timing (typically SRT or VTT format)
Using Facebook autogenerate option (only for Facebook Pages):
- Visit your Facebook Page, locate your video, click the (...) and chose Edit Video.
- Select the Captions Section and if you have the autogenerate captions turned on it the captions should be already done. (If not, you can activate it or start the process to generate captions)
- Once finished click the Review button to edit the captions and make any necessary corrections before saving your post.
Uploading your own captions to Facebook (Pages, Groups, Personal Profiles)
- Open the video on your Facebook page, group, or personal profile, click the (...) and chose Edit Video.
- Upload the SRT file to your Facebook video (we highly recommend you use a tool like Otter.ai to generate srt captions - very inexpensive and very accurate)
Choosing YouTube or Facebook Captions inside of Repurpose
- Go to your Workflows page and click the View Workflow button to open your workflow.
- Open the workflow settings by clicking the Gear icon in the top right corner, then scroll to the bottom of the settings pop-up and hit the Full Resync button to let Repurpose checks to see if they are captions on your YouTube or Facebook video. If captions are found, Repurpose display that with a 'CC' icon next to it.
- After hitting 'Schedule', on the pop-up window choose to use the 'Burn Captions Into Video' before you proceed.
Method 2 - Manually uploading the SRT file to the video on Repurpose:
- Go to your Workflows page and click the View Workflow button to open your workflow.
- After hitting 'Schedule', on the pop-up window choose to 'Upload caption file' and browser for it on your computer.
Method 3 - Using Google Drive or DropBox folders (only for Video to Video workflows):
Your video file and your SRT file must have the same name. For example:
- Go to your Workflows page and click the View Workflow button to open your workflow. If captions are found, Repurpose display that with a 'CC' icon next to it.
- After hitting 'Schedule', on the pop-up window choose to use the 'Captions file from this folder' before you proceed.
