# Auto-Detected Snippets

Repurpose allows you to automatically generate snippets from your videos using **timestamps** in your description/caption. This guide will show you how to format timestamps to ensure Repurpose recognizes them and creates snippets accordingly.

### ✍️ Basic Format

To create an auto-detected snippet, include a timestamp followed by a title in your episode description. Here's the standard format:

```
0:20 Intro
1:49 Main Topic
3:26 Conclusion
```

Each timestamp marks the beginning of a snippet, which will be created based on the duration set in the **"Default Snippet Duration"** field within the workflow settings. The text following the timestamp is optional, but if included, it will be used as the snippet's title. If no text is included, the video’s title will be used instead.

### ⏱️ Creating a Snippet with a Custom Ending

To specify the **start and end time** of a snippet, use a hyphen (`-`) between the two times.

```
1:00 - 2:30 Snippet Name
```

This tells Repurpose to create a snippet starting at **1:00** and ending at **2:30**, using "Snippet Name" as the title.

## 📎 Tips

* Make sure timestamps are clearly separated, maintaining spacing just like in the examples, and placed on their own individual lines.
* Always use **hh:mm:ss** or **mm:ss** format (e.g., `1:00`).
* Place your timestamps in the **vide description/caption** so they can be detected properly.

# Examples

* For all social media platforms that include a description or caption, Repurpose reads the timestamps directly from that text.

* For content stored in Google Drive or Dropbox, you can use a `.txt` file **with the same name as your video** to add descriptions and timestamps.
